WORLD GEOGRAPHY SYLLABUS
World Geography is a survey course the gives students the opportunity to explore the five themes of geography; Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, and Region. Additionally, students will research famous explorers and their travels; learn how to read road maps and topographic maps; how to use a compass, protractor, and a GPS. Students will understand how people shape their world and how the world shapes man and his creations. World Geography is an elective course.

WORLD GEOGRAPHY SYLLABUS
World Geography is a survey course the gives students the opportunity to explore the five themes of geography; Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, and Region. Required Materials:
- 3 Ring Binder
- Paper: loose leaf paper in a binder is best, but composition notebooks is acceptable
- Pencils/Pens: Please have something to write with each day
Academic Integrity:
- Students must complete their own work. Students who copy the work of others or who give their work to others will be assigned a Zero and a possible office referral.
Assignments and Grading Guidelines:
- A = (90-100) B = (80-89) C = (70-79) D = (60-69) F = (0-59)
- Tests = 30%
- Research Paper/Book Reports = 20%
- Homework = 25%
- News Summaries = 25% (due every Friday)
Classroom expectations:
- Come to School: The more you miss, the more you get behind.
- Code of Conduct: Be familiar with posted classroom rules, you will be held to its standards.
- Tardies: Students must be in the room before the tardy bell finishes ringing.
Make Up/Late Work Policy:
- Full credit if submitted by due date (or day you return from an absence/field trip)
- One day late 85 will be the maximum grade
- Two days late 70 will be maximum grade
- Three days late 60 will be maximum grade
- After three days you will be given a 0 for the assignment
- Make up work: first day back at school after any absences the student must contact the teacher to determine due dates for makeup work in person or through email (before school, after school, during class or lunch)
